Crews battle fire above Chatsworth

Firefighters aggressively attacked a fire that broke out above Chatsworth in the 11500 block of N. Topanga Canyon Boulevard Monday evening.

The approximately 1/2-acre fire broke out at about 7 p.m.and was slow-moving allowing firefighters on the ground and on the air to extinguish the bulk of the fire just before 8 p.m.

Firefighters established hand lines around the perimeter of the fire, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Los Angeles Fire Department and Ventura County Fire Department crews will remain on scene until the Los Angeles County Fire Department assumes command.

No injuries or threat to structures were reported. No further details were immediately known.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
