Couple found dead in Chatsworth home in possible murder-suicide, police say

A husband and wife were found shot to death Monday in their Chatsworth area residence in a possible murder-suicide.

Officers sent to the 10400 block of Canoga Avenue about 7 a.m. found the pair dead.

The man was in his 70s and the woman was in her 60s, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter. Their names were withheld pending notification of their relatives.

Los Angeles Police Department Officer Rosario Herrera told City News Service that no suspects were being sought.

According to news outlets, police found the weapon believed used in the shooting, and there was no sign of forced entry into the residence, where the couple had lived for a some time.

Neighbors said the wife was a manicurist who worked out of her home and the husband was retired. They said the couple had one child -- a daughter in her late 20s or early 30s.

Their names were not immediately released.
