City leaders to reach out to those affected by sewage spill in San Gabriel

Business owners and residents affected by a sewage spill in San Gabriel, including residents of a senior living facility, will be contacted Thursday by city leaders.

A sewage blockage was reported around 6 p.m. Wednesday, affecting the 300 to 900 blocks of Arroyo Drive, according to San Gabriel Police.

Officials repaired the pumps and restored normal sewage flow in the city's system by about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday and continued to monitor the system Thursday morning, according to a statement on the city's website.

The backup caused flooding on the first floor of the Vista Cove senior living facility at 901 W. Santa Anita Street. Residents were relocated to upper floors.
