CHP find lost donkey in Santa Monica Mountains; get creative while locating owner

This California Highway Patrol officer was probably not expecting to come to work and hang out with livestock.

The CHP West Valley division said a donkey was reported to be on the loose in early November, running into traffic lanes in the Santa Monica Mountains above Malibu.

On Saturday, the division posted on its Facebook page and Instagram that the donkey in question had been found.

"A West Valley CHP officer located the donkey and got creative with his patrol vehicle's jumper cables to keep it tied up until the owner arrived on scene," the post reads in part. "There's no such thing as a routine day on this job!"
