LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - This is basketball coach Tony Wong. He is now facing 12 counts of committing lewd and lascivious acts upon a minor.
For 25 years Coach Wong lead The Alpine Striders basketball team to numerous championships. But behind all the winning, players say there was a twisted relationship between a coach and some of his players.
Players who came forward to FOX 11 News and the LAPD say the coach would take naked photos of the boys and videotape them masturbating at his direction. Why would any player go along with that? Attorney Craig Lui explains: "You have to understand the power that this man had over our clients over these young adults because he was involved in their lives in such a young age, he had a power."
"The children looked at Tony as the father figure because they came from broken families. He really took them under their wing. Everyone in the community knew this."
Players say coach Wong forced his "special players" to sign a commitment letter in which they promised to do whatever the coach wanted with no questions asked.
The statue of limitations has run out on some of the former basketball players accusing Wong of sexual molestation. But attorney Lui believes there are new victims who haven't yet come forward.
