Car with 2 young children inside carjacked outside San Bernardino store
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (FOX 11 / AP) - Police say a man suspected of carjacking a vehicle with two young children inside was arrested after he was chased by a good Samaritan and crashed in San Bernardino.
Lt. Rich Lawhead says the kids' mother jumped onto the hood of her car when she saw it being driven away from a liquor store where she had stopped Sunday night.
The woman fell to the pavement as the car sped off. Lawhead says a witness followed the suspect and alerted police. The suspect crashed the car and was found hiding nearby.
The children -- two babies who were secured in car seats -- were unhurt.
The woman told police she only ran into the store for a minute and had her kids within her sight the whole time.
