Car crashes into building at dangerous intersection in Bell

Terrifying moments when a car flew through the front door of a business in Bell were caught on camera. The collision between two cars at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Brompton Avenue that sent five to the hospital.

"We heard a loud bang and tried to rush over here to see what was going on," said Alex Contreras who works nearby. "After we heard screaming, we tried to get all the kids out before anything else.

The surveillance video from the business appears to show a car take a left turn but it doesn't clear the intersection in time.

"We were scared this would happen," said Daniel Fernandez, the property owner. Fernandez said there's been at least twenty car accidents at this intersection this year alone.

"It's a fast street, people trying to turn," he said.

It's a big enough problem that Fernandez said he went to the City last March to ask to have concrete barrier poles put in front of his business, but he said the idea was never approved.

"We are open to 4PM and the accident was at 4:15. So, we were lucky we were closed when that happened," he added.

In fact, one of the camera angles from inside the business shows the car running through the front door, sending multiple chairs flying.

"This is the waiting area for my clients," he said of the chairs. "So, this is really really dangerous."

Police will continue to investigate and citations or charges could be possible.
