Boy, 2, struck by pickup truck, fatally injured in Yorba Linda

YORBA LINDA, Calif. - A 2-year-old boy was struck by a pickup truck backing out of a home's driveway and fatally injured this afternoon in Yorba Linda.

The collision was reported about 4:50 p.m. in the 4000 block of Casa Oro Drive, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department Public Information Manager Carrie Braun.

The boy was struck near his home, Braun said. The child was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and was being questioned by deputies who were investigating if drugs or alcohol were involved in the fatal collision, Braun said.
