Boy, 13, wounded in San Bernardino drive-by shooting

A teen was shot and taken to the hospital Monday in San Bernardino, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at about 1:15 p.m. in the 6900 block of Tippecanoe Avenue. Deputies found a 13-year-old boy shot, who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known.

Authorities said the teen, his brother and a friend were standing in front of a residence when a black, four-door sedan drove up and fired several rounds at the group.

At least one round hit the 13-year-old, and three additional bullets struck a nearby home.

Deputies said one of the bullets shot through a window and landed in a wall, just inches above a 3-year-old boy sleeping in his bed.

At least four people were in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, investigators said.

Anyone with information was urged to contact the San Bernardino Sheriff's Central Station at (909) 387-3545. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call WeTip at 1-800-78-CRIME.
