Barricade in Rosemead Ends With Hollywood Hills Shooting Suspect In Custody

A gunman suspected in the shooting death of a 27-year-old man in the Hollywood Hills last weekend has been shot by police and taken into custody after a nearly six-hour standoff at a home in the 3500 block of Strang Avenue in Rosemead, according to reports from the scene. The suspect's condition is unclear.

Neighboring homes were evacuated and SWAT and crisis negotiation teams were called to the scene after the suspect barricaded himself about 3:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Strang Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect is alone in the home, according to LAPD Officer Matthew Ludwig. The man's name and age were not immediately available.

He was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Henry Estrada about 8:40 p.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Sycamore Avenue, police said.

Officers responding to a "shooting just occurred" call found Estrada suffering from several gunshot wounds, according to the LAPD.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
