Actor Danny Trejo speaks up for Sylmar High students at safety meeting

This week's wild brawl at Sylmar High School is stirring up strong reaction from students, parents, and one Hollywood actor.

"Machete" star Danny Trejo was seen speaking up during a safety meeting at the school Wednesday night. Trejo doesn't have children attending Sylmar, but he's a San Fernando Valley Resident.

He cut in when it looked like parents and students weren't going to get time to talk...so, the format changed, and students were given the floor to speak.

All of this stems from the aftermath on Monday of a lunchtime brawl that involved about 40 students. The 20-minute brawl -- captured on cellphone video -- took a dozen officers to control. Check out FOX 11 original story and video of the lunchtime brawl here.

Students say the fight wasn't a black-versus-brown issue.

They said it had more to do, with gangs.
