Sunny Hills High School sends students home in wake of threat

- Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton was closed for the day today because of a "perceived student threat,'' the Fullerton Joint Union High School District reported.

"Sunny Hills High School experienced a perceived student threat on the safety to the students and staff,'' the district said in a statement on its website. "Out of an abundance of caution, the principal and superintendent
made the decision to close Sunny Hills High School for the day.''

The statement said police officers were dispatched to Sunny Hills High "and are conducting a sweep of the campus. Nothing has been found; however, out of an abundance of caution, the campus is closed for the day. All other
schools are open.''

Fullerton police did not immediately comment on the closure, which came a day after the Los Angeles Unified School District's more than 900 campuses were kept shuttered in response to what turned out to be a bogus bomb threat.
