55MPH Wind Gusts During Coachella Opening Day

It won't be hard to achieve the "wind-blown look" at the Coachella Music Festival this weekend. A High Wind Warning is in effect in the Coachella Valley. The treacherous gusts give the line "welcome to the jungle" a whole new meaning to festival-goers.

High winds and dust blasted thousands of people as the made their way to the Empire Polo Fields Friday.

While some festival-goers had their bandana's ready, others found themselves "running against the wind." One group came in from Houston prepared for all scenarios.

"We have hats, bandanas, scarves, everything we need," Vanessa Kang said.

Sixty musical acts expected on six stages Friday, and it's going to take "true grit" to make all the shows. The National Weather Service declared a high wind warning for the Coachella Valley. Northwest winds coming in at around 20 -30 mph, gusting and gusts up to 55 mph.

The warning is in affect until 11am tomorrow. And, that's when Ice Cube opens for the much anticipated Guns N' Roses reunion.
