5 injured in unlicensed teen DUI car crash into pedestrians

Five teens were injured today in a suspected DUI-fueled collision between a car and two pedestrians in Santa Ana, authorities said.

The driver, a minor who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of "alcohol and/or drugs,'' was speeding down the 1600 block of South Greenville Street about 11 a.m. when he lost control of the silver sedan,
which jumped the curb, veered onto a sidewalk and plowed into the pedestrians, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. The car then slammed into a light pole.

Five patients were taken to area hospitals, including one with an apparent broken leg, but none of the injuries were considered life-threatening, he said.
