2 killed, 1 hurt after car smashes into house in Boyle Heights

Firefighters worked for more than an hour Sunday to cut from debris a badly-hurt person trapped when a car smashed into a house in Boyle Heights.

But the trapped person died in the wreckage, one hour after another person had died at a nearby hospital from injuries suffered in the 11:03 a.m. crash, firefighters said.

A third person was extricated form the smashed car with minor injuries, following the crash, on a small residential street just next to the 101 Freeway and north of First Street.

A small white sedan smashed into a 115-year-old house at 1550 Pleasant Ave., said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the location at 11:03 a.m., Humphrey said.

The third patient was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, he said
