HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (FOX 11 / CNS) - A man was shot to death by police in Hollywood on Friday morning after he was seen walking the streets with what appeared to be a bayonet, police said.
The shooting occurred shortly after 1 a.m. in the 1400 block of Hobart Boulevard near Sunset Boulevard, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department 's media relations section.
The suspect, who appeared to be around 40 years of age, was armed with what officers said looked like a bayonet, she said. An officer-involved shooting occurred after he came in contact with officers, but the LAPD did not immediately detail what prompted police to fire.
Eisenman said someone from the Los Angeles County coroner's office was at the scene at 5:15 a.m. No officer was hurt.
