SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (FOX 11) - One of the world's most elite skydivers is planning to jump out of an airplane - without a parachute or wingsuit, and land safely onto a net.
Skydiver Luke Aikins will attempt the 25-thousand foot jump in Simi Valley Saturday evening as part of a FOX network hour-long live TV special called ‘Heaven Sent.’
Aikins will attempt to fall into a large net, held 20-stories high by two cranes. The height of the net is intended to provide enough space to cushion his record-setting fall - but not so much that he bounces out of it.
Aikins will have to constantly fight shifting winds as he falls at about 120-miles per hour into a net roughly one-third the size of a football field.
