A Grief Stricken Family Looks for Answers after Deaths of 3 Boys

- 10-year old Katherine Fuentes was grief-stricken. Her three cousins had been stabbed to death in the back seat of a new Nissan Quest. As she whimpered she said "They were so nice to me."

But, this was a very bad day. Police say the three boys were stabbed multiple times. They got the call early this morning. When they arrived the boys were dead. The suspect, their father, had stab wounds to the chest, but was alive when police arrived. He was taken to a hospital.

L.A. Police Chief Charlie Beck and detectives were, for the most part, tight-lipped about what might have led up to all of this. And, of course, that is still under investigation. But, family members who came to a vigil on 32nd Street said the boy's father had money problems. And, when family members asked if he wanted help he wouldn't take it. Despite that, they say he loved his kids and was a good father.

But, this was also tough for veteran police officers who had to see the grisly remains. Said Beck, “These are horrific incidents. These are incidents that scar not only a community but the first responders who have to handle them."

Three children were found dead today in a vehicle in South Los Angeles, and a man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said.

The dead children were of elementary school age, Los Angeles Police Department Officer A. Jefferson said. An unconfirmed report indicated that the survivor was their father.

Firefighters and paramedics were sent to the 300 block of East 32nd Street about 7 a.m., said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"There was a knife that was inside of that vehicle, and they appear to have at least some stab wounds,'' LAPD Detective Meghan Aguilar told FOX 11.

Cousins of the three boys killed in South LA have set up a GOFUNDME account to help deal with all of the expenses they suddenly now face. The link is: gofundme.com/yk3tdup4.
