ROWLAND HEIGHTS (FOX 11) - It was the kind of crime that makes you shake your head and wonder "what's next?"
Carl Giardina's 93-year-old mother, whom he lives with and takes care of, was the victim of a brazen daytime robbery in her home while he was away at work.
Three people talked their way in, with one claiming to be a neighbor's relative, asking to use the bathroom.
The thieves distracted his mother, ransacked her house and took a safe, authorities say. Inside was her wedding ring, her late husband's wedding ring, an expensive watch and numerous memories.
Carl called the robbers ''wimps'' who can't get real jobs.
That's one word for them.
One of the suspects is a man in his 60's, another a younger man 20 or 30, and a woman possibly in her 30's.
Fortunately for investigators, Carl previously put in security cameras to keep an eye on his elderly parents, and now there is video of the suspects.
He says he has seen them around the neighborhood before -- though he doesn't know their names or where they live.
