16-year old teen arrested for stabbing woman to death, stealing car

A 16-year-old boy was in custody Wednesday on suspicion of stabbing to death a 53-year-old woman in the West Hills home in which they both lived, police said.

Connie Cajulis was found in the residence in the 7100 block of Shadow Ridge Court between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The boy was arrested on Tuesday, said LAPD Officer Liliana Preciado of the Media Relations office. His name was withheld. "We got the call about an injured woman and responding officers found the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds,'' Sgt. Greg Houser, the watch commander at the department's Topanga Station, said earlier. "Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.''

The investigation was being handled by Valley Bureau homicide detectives, Houser said.

"Detectives don't believe the motive was robbery,'' Houser said.

Anyone with information on the stabbing was asked to call LAPD's Valley Bureau at (818) 644-8000. Tipsters can also call the LAPD's 24-hour tipline at (877) 527-3247 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
