Sherman Oaks man starts rescue of abused animals around the world

Dogs cramped into cages, waiting to die. In many foreign countries dogs are the meat of choice. But it’s not even the eating of the dogs that has prompted Sherman Oaks resident Marc Ching into action.

He says, “I’m sure people know that these countries eat dogs, but it’s not the eating of the dogs or the eating of the species, it’s this torture and this cruelty that’s built in this trade. We as people, we’re supposed to be better than that.”

As Marc explains it, dogs are tortured and burned alive because people believe when a dog is tortured, it releases certain chemicals in the body that make the meat tastier. That is why Marc has taken it upon himself to change how dogs are treated in foreign countries.

He goes undercover to slaughterhouses posing as a buyer and he secretly videotapes the torture. He also rescues as many dogs as he can and brings them to California. They are up for adoption. Marc hopes to bring awareness to this horrible trade and shame these foreign governments into enacting laws that will protect dogs.
