SANTA MONICA, Calif. (FOX 11) - A simple device from a tech company based in Santa Monica has helped cut down on burglaries in L.A. We're talking about the video doorbell device called Ring.
It provides home security through a video peephole, letting you see who's at the door...whether you're inside the house or 100 miles away - all of this while using your mobile device.
After noticing an increase in home burglaries in the Wilshire Park area...The Ring company donated 500 free devices to residents.
Six months later...burglaries dropped by 55-percent.
Ring hopes to implement similar programs in other neighborhoods.
