Cal Poly Pomona placed on lockdown amid search for stolen vehicle suspects

- A campus housing area at Cal Poly Pomona was placed on lockdown Thursday evening as deputies searched for suspects who ran from a crashed stolen vehicle.

The crash occurred about 4:20 p.m. in the area of Valley Boulevard and Temple Avenue on the border of Pomona and the unincorporated Avocado Heights area, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and reports from the scene.

Three of at least four suspects were apprehended as deputies searched the University Village campus housing area at the southern end of the university, where students, faculty and staff were advised to shelter in place, according to reports and tweets issued by the university.

A nearby mobile home park was also being searched.
