'Person of interest' sought in fatal LA stabbing day after Christmas

On Monday, police released a photo from video surveillance footage showing a "person of interest" wanted for questioning in the stabbing death of a 36-year-old man killed a day after Christmas in South Los Angeles.

The "person of interest" is described as a Hispanic man with long bushy hair, wearing a plaid shirt. He was captured on surveillance video leaving the area where the crime had occurred.

The deadly stabbing happened on Dec. 26, 2018, at about 6:00 p.m. Newton area police officers were dispatched to Central Avenue and Vernon Avenue where they found the victim, Alejandro Saenz, laying on the sidewalk and suffering from a stab wound.

Saenz was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
