FOX 11 News IN DEPTH: Women as first responders and a man who, at 90, finally has his diploma!

(FOX 11) - This is our 19th show and takes a look at how women can get jobs at fire fighters and police officers. Thanks to all of the agencies that worked with us. You can get more on job opportunities on their websites.

SEGMENT ONE: The numbers clearly show that being a firefighter in Southern California is still a man's job. But, there are women bucking that trend and new programs underway to recruit more women. In this segment we hear from Deputy Chief Kristen Allison from the US Forest Service, Shelley Redden with CalFire in San Bernardino and LA County Firefighter, Sheila Kelliher talk about what it takes for a woman to be a firefighter.

SEGMENT TWO: Now, its time to look at women who are police officers and sheriff's deputies. In this segment Lt. Sue Burakowski and Anaheim Police Officer Marly Campos talk about their experiences and efforts to recruit women.

SEGMENT THREE: Leo Chalukian is 90-years old. He's had a great life, but one thing has eluded him until recently... getting his high school diploma. We hear his feelings on that and of his days in the military that still haunt him.

SEGMENT FOUR: Some of your Facebook comments about what firefighters have been up against this past week.
