Hundreds Sign Up For Health Care Before Sunday Deadline

(FOX 11) - Ana and Angel Flores have been married 25 years, and this year they are sharing part of their Valentine's Day at the East Los Angeles Altamed to sign up for Obamacare.

Health insurance is a top priority for this couple. Angel says he has both diabetes and high blood pressure. Affordability is necessary.

"Last time we had to pay $400 a month, that's to much for us. We need something more affordable," Angel Flores said.

The couple is one of thousands of California's who are spending their time, waiting in long lines, trying to get covered.

If people don't get covered before this deadline, they could be issued a tax penalty.

To encourage millennials to get covered before the clock strikes midnight on Feb. 15, President Barack Obama shot a video for BuzzFeed entitled "Things Everybody Does But Doesn't Talk About."

And, though waiting in lines was not the most romantic way for Angel and Ana Flores to spend their Valentine's Day, still they say its worth it!

"It's important," Angel said.

Altamed in Commerce will be open until midnight Sunday for last minute enrollees.
