Homeless dine with pride at soup kitchen designed like restaurant

Everyone deserves a good, warm, and healthy meal. And that's the mission Episcopal Community Services has set out to accomplish. They believe in "empowering the poor to move beyond the barriers of poverty with dignity."

Their soup kitchen is designed like a restaurant. It's thoughtful, caring, and giving. There, you will see greeters, waiters, and chefs...all with open arms, welcoming the homeless and anyone in need in Kansas City.

The Kitchen has been serving for 30 years and decided to change the look of a regular soup kitchen by re-opening and launching it's new restaurant-style initiative.

Those who come and enjoy a meal they may not get otherwise are appreciative as any good restaurant patron would be.

They serve each week day between 11am and 2pm. Diners get to pick what they want from a menu and can even make suggestions. Volunteers greet them at the door and wait staff take the orders and keep the cups filled to the brim.

The Episcopal Community Services goes beyond the soup kitchen with an entire relief program:
