Hit-And-Run Rampage In South LA

It was 7:30 in the morning. Dozens of children were walking on 41st Drive, between Hoover and Figueroa, on their way to school. Suddenly, a gold color SUV plows it's way down the street, hitting parked cars, barely missing people. Security video shows the SUV slam onto a truck, bounce onto a fence, then pulls back and drives off, as kids are jumping into yards.

"I thought I was dead" said one man, who barely got out of the way, as the vehicle slammed onto the side of his truck and drove off. He and many toe hrs chased it down a couple of blocks, as it crashed again and again, until it was stopped by a cement wall and pole.

LAPD traffic officers who heard the call coming out from dispatch, actually saw the crowd running after the driver, who was being held by residents when police caught up. He was arrested without incident.

A woman identifying herself as the suspect's sister says she has no explanation for his behavior, but explains that her own kids had to flee into the neighboring yard when their uncle was in the middle of his strange ride through the neighborhood.

Two adults and two children were treated for minor injuries.
