Gina's People: Search and Rescue

On the worst day of someone's life, members of the Santa Clarita Search and Rescue team are at their very best. Always prepared for just about anything.

The team responds to all kinds of emergency calls involving cars over cliffs, missing children and lost hikers. The members do it all for free. Volunteering their time simply because they want to help in their community. Volunteer Ken Wiseman says, "My day job is to take care of the bills, this is to take care of the heart."

There are eight search and rescue teams in LA County situated in mountainous areas. All members have to be EMT certified and pass a background check. To be a reserve deputy, a person has to go through the academy and be at least 20 years of age, 18 to be a volunteer.
