The fire was reported at 1:24 p.m., a dispatcher said. It was under control by 5 p.m. although full containment wasn't expected until later in the evening, a captain with the Brea-Fullerton Fire Department said.
An Orange County Fire Authority captain said that agency was called just before 1:30 p.m. to assist Brea-Fullerton Fire Department counterparts in the 1700 block of Harbor Boulevard.
The fire had scorched about 12 acres by about 4 p.m., according to news reports.
The OCFA sent about 45 firefighters and a helicopter to the scene, the captain said.

Units from Anaheim Fire & Rescue and the Garden Grove Fire Department were also assisting.
