These are the hardcore fans, too! One couple, flying in from England, saying "24 hour flight, what's 24 more hours to be a part of this?" This being the launch of the yearlong "Diamond Celebration". The park is decked out, there is a new "Painting the Night" parade, featuring 1.5 million LED lights.
The 24 hour parties have been so,popular that traffic has backed up on the freeways and streets leading to the park in past years. They usually take place on Memorial Day weekends, but this year, with the anniversary, they are expecting even larger crowds. Don't be surprised if you find gridlock conditions if you don't get here soon!
The park will close at 6am Saturday, then reopen again at 9. Yes, we did find people who were planning on coming back then, even after their 24 hour marathon. Hardcore indeed!
