Body discovered in La Cañada Flintridge guest house fire

Officials work to identify the person who was killed in a guest house fire

A body was discovered as firefighters worked to knock down the flames in a guest house in La Canada Flintridge.

LA CAÑADA FlINTRIDGE, Calif. - Firefighters discovered a badly burned body in charred debris in a guest house located behind a home in La Cañada Flintridge Tuesday morning, officials said.

First responders were called to a home in the 4400 block of Rockmere Way located near the 210 Freeway at about 11:30 p.m. Monday and discovered a rear house fully engulfed in flames, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze by 12:04 a.m. and a body was later discovered inside the fire-damaged structure, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

No firefighters were hurt and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
