Grand Theft Auto Suspect Leads LAPD on Dangerous High-Speed Pursuit

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The driver of a 2012 white Toyota police said had a felony warrant attached to it led Los Angeles police on a high- speed chase in the Glendale area for more than a half-hour today before being cornered in a cul de sac in Glendale.

The pursuit began about 5:40 p.m. The car could have been connected with a violent crime, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jack Richter said.

The chase went through Griffith Park, Atwater, Cypress Park and Glendale. The driver drove at high speeds through residential streets, on the wrong side of the street, and some park grass off Los Feliz Boulevard.

Talking on a cellphone during the chase, the driver made an audacious drive over a dirt embankment from the Ventura (134) Freeway before ending up in a cul de sac, Sherman Lane, in Glendale, near Brand Boulevard and the Ventura Freeway.

The suspect was slow to give himself up, but finally he did.
