Conjoined Twins in Haiti Separated by L.A. Doctors

As doctor Henri Ford held a twin in each arm he beamed with pride. He'd led the medical team that performed the surgery to separate conjoined twins.

The volunteer team had traveled from Children's Hospital L.A. to Ford's native country, Haiti.

The twins were conjoined at the abdomen. The surgery was risky as doctors had to divide the liver. Anesthesiologist Joanna Green said she did lots of praying.

The twins were separated after a seven hour surgery. Dr. Ford called it a "magical moment." It was the first ever separation of conjoined twins in Haiti. The children were home within a week.

Since the 2010 earthquake in Haiti Dr. Ford has returned many times for medical work.
