Fireworks Show At Dodger Stadium To Salute 1965 World Series Victory

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Los Angeles Dodgers will conduct a fireworks show set to songs of 1965 following tonight's game against the Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium. Fans will be invited onto the field to watch the show, which will take place before 11 p.m. and is subject to cancellation if the game lasts too long. The fireworks show comes one day before the Dodgers conduct their old- timers game, saluting the 50th anniversary of their 1965 World Series victory.

Dennis Powell, who pitched for the Dodgers in 1985 and 1986, will sign autographs in the left field pavilion from 5-7 p.m. Pregame entertainment will include a stilt walker in the left field plaza and a DJ in the right field plaza, both from 5-7 p.m. The Military Hero of the Game will be U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class Cynthia Velasco of Los Angeles. Velasco served in the 2004 Rim of the Pacific Deployment, several West Pacific deployments and in Operation Tomodachi, the 2011 effort to provide humanitarian relief to Japan following the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. Auto gates will open at 4:40 p.m. and stadium gates at 5:10 p.m. Pregame ceremonies will begin at 6:55 p.m. for the 7:10 p.m. game.
