Suspect Wounded In Deputy-Involved Shooting In Cerritos

CERRITOS (CNS/FOX 11) - A suspect was wounded in a deputy-involved shooting in Cerritos late Thursday afternoon.

No deputies were injured in the shooting, which happened about 4:35 p.m. in the 13200 block of Artesia Boulevard in Cerritos, according to Nicole Nishida of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

A vehicle crashed at the end of a chase at the location, shearing a fire hydrant and sending a geyser into the air and flooding streets.

In addition to the wounded suspect, a second suspect who was not hit was taken into custody, according to the sheriff's department, which did not immediately say what precipitated the gunfire.
