El Monte Kung Fu Instructor Charged With Molesting Female Students

POMONA (CNS/FOX 11) - A 49-year-old martial arts instructor was charged Monday with molesting three current and former juvenile students in El Monte.

Derick Lee of Temple City was an instructor at Elite Kung Fu Training Academy at 10423 Valley Blvd., according to police and prosecutors. He was charged with two counts of lewd act on a child and one count each of sexual penetration by foreign object, sexual penetration by foreign object, child molesting and sexual battery.

He is scheduled to be arraigned May 19 in Pomona.

Prosecutors said Lee allegedly sexually assaulted and touched three teenage girls who were his students. One of the alleged victims came forward last month.

Lee was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Thursday after police received the report that he had made inappropriate physical contact with a juvenile there, said El Monte police Sgt. Richard Luna.

A follow-up investigation resulted in the identification of two additional victims. All of the assaults were committed against current and former students and occurred inside the business, Luna said.

If convicted as charged, he faces up to 10 years and eight months in prison, prosecutors said.
