Police: Man Arrested In Attempted Rape Outside Boyle Heights Bar

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man suspected of forcing a woman into his car at knife-point in Boyle Heights and then attempting to rape her was arrested Saturday after he sought treatment at a hospital for injuries he suffered when the victim successfully fought him off, according to news reports.

The man allegedly wielded a folding knife when he forced the woman into his car outside the Eastside Luv bar in the 1800 block of East First Street about 3:30 a.m., according to news reports.

Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Officer Mike Lopez would only say a sexual assault took place at that time near Pennsylvania Avenue and Bailey Street.

He said a suspect was identified and taken into custody, but would not provide additional details this evening, citing the victim's privacy and the fact that the suspect had not yet been booked.

But according to news outlets, the man was taken into custody when he went to a hospital seeking treatment for injuries sustained in the attack. The victim was treated for minor injuries.
