Couple Believed To Be In California After 3-Year-Old Found Dead In Las Vegas Home

LOS ANGELES (CNS/FOX 11) - A couple and five children being sought Saturday by police after a 3-year-old girl was found dead in a North Las Vegas home may be in the Los Angeles, authorities said.

Investigators want to question Jondrew Lachaux, 39, and Kellie Phillips, 38, in connection with the death of the 3-year-old and the neglect of 4-month- old girl who was malnourished and left in critical condition, according to North Las Vegas police Officer Aaron Patty.

Officers were dispatched at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday to a medical center where the younger girl was reported to be malnourished, Patty said.

"Her 17-year-old mother was arrested for one count of child abuse with substantial bodily harm ...,'' Patty said.

On Thursday morning, a search warrant was served at the family's home, and that's when the dead 3-year-old girl was found, the officer said.

She appeared to have been dead for at least a few weeks with no obvious cause of death, he said.

The girl "... reportedly died while in the care of her 17-year-old sister whom she had been left with for several months,'' Patty said.

The sister is also facing one count of child abuse with death, he said.

The five children who are believed to be with Lachaux and Phillips range in age from 1-9 years old and all seven may be in the Los Angeles or Oakland areas, Patty said.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to contact North Las Vegas police at (702) 633-9111.
