Woman Crushed To Death When Drunk Driver Crashes Car Into Home

(FOX 11 / CNS) A Lancaster woman was killed when a suspected drunk driver crashed his pickup truck into her home and crushed her while she slept, authorities said Monday.

The accident occurred in the 1000 block of West Avenue J-12 at 10:55p.m. Sunday, said Sgt. David Jennings of the Sheriff's Lancaster Station.

Preliminary information indicated the driver, 25-year-old Aaron Daniel Benson, crashed his 2001 Toyota Tacoma into several parked cars on both sides of the street as he moved westbound on Avenue J-12 before slamming into the home, said Jennings.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Benson was booked at the Lancaster Sheriff's Station for vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence of alcohol, the sergeant said.

An elderly woman was killed after a suspected drunk driver crashed through her bedroom. Lancaster firefighters responded to a vehicle into a house in the 1000 block of West Ave J-12 Sunday night at approximately 10:50 p.m.

The driver, 25-year-old Aaron Daniel Benson of Lancaster, was travelling west on Avenue J-12 from 10th Street West and collided with several cars parked on both sides of the street. The driver of the 2001 silver Toyota Tacoma then crashed into a home on the south side of the street, striking a woman sleeping in her bed. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the woman, in her seventies, lived in the home alone.
