'Sex Box' Host Chris Donaghue: New Show Offers Sex In A Box As Therapy

(FOX 11/AP) - We TV's new series "Sex Box" is pretty self-explanatory.

Couples seeking therapy going into a large, windowless and soundproof box on stage and have sex while the audience waits until their done. Afterwards, they discuss the experience with a panel of experts.

According to host and head panelist Dr. Chris Donaghue, the oxytocin levels in the body are highest following sex, which allows for a more direct and open discussion.

"Sex Box" is an adaptation of a British show where three therapists meet with couples who have relationship issues.

However titillating the concept, there's really nothing to see. No one undresses in public. There's not even an embrace. When the couple emerges from the sex box, stagehands rush in to make sure their silk pajamas are completely buttoned up.

"The whole sex in the box thing was kind of intimidating at first but kind of exciting," said Chris Crom of Poway, California, featured on the debut with wife, Alexia, who had the post-pregnancy sex pause. "We were there more for the therapeutic time."

Donaghue stopped by Good Day LA Thursday to answer some questions about the provocative show.
