3.7 Earthquake Strikes 18 Miles Northeast Of Indio

INDIO (CNS) - A magnitude-3.7 earthquake struck today 18 miles northeast of Indio and 19 miles north-northeast of Coachella, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries as a result of the quake, which hit at 5:18 p.m., Riverside County fire spokeswoman April Newman said.

Crews at county fire stations throughout eastern Riverside county moved their trucks out of station bays and into driveways as a precaution, which is standard practice after any quake measuring 3.5 or higher, Newman said.

Moving the trucks from the bays ensures they won't be damaged by faulty structures or aftershocks, she said.
