276 dogs found in New Jersey home

276 dogs were rescued from a Howell, New Jersey home in what local authorities were calling one of the worst animal hoarding cases they've ever seen. The SPCA took 15 hours to rescue all of the dogs from the home.

The SPCA's Ross Licitra called the condition inside the house "deplorable" but said most of the animals were in fair condition.

Some dogs were giving birth to new litters of puppies as the rescue crews were trying to clear the house.

Licitra said officers found no dead dogs. Officials said charges are expected to be filed against the couple who own the house.

The SPCA was asking for donations because of the influx of dogs. They say they need to provide vaccinations, microchips, spay/neuter surgeries, food, and shelter. It costs around $20 per day, per dog, according to the group.

The group says it was looking for foster homes to care for the dogs but was unsure when any of them would be up for adoption.
