Thank You Officer: Notes of thanks posted on NC police cruiser

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina police officer got some unexpected notes of thanks at a time when police officers have been shot and killed around the country.

The Fayetteville Police Department posted a picture Sunday on its Facebook page showing notes stuck to the cruiser of Officer J. Wall while he worked a second job at a local store.

The notes had such messages as "Thank you for always coming when we call" and "We appreciate all that you do!"

The department posted that it's grateful for the continued community support.

Local media outlets report that after the shooting of five Dallas police officers earlier this month, local residents bought meals for Fayetteville officers, put signs and flags in front of police headquarters and thanked officers entering and leaving the building.
