Electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids were hot items at this year's CES and the Detroit Autoshow. We have one of those hot wheels here with us today, the Honda Clarity plug-in hybrid, and here to tell us all about it, one of the helpful Honda folk Natalie Kumaratne. Natalie is a spokesperson for Honda.
What are the key points you need to know about Honda’s plug-in hybrid? It has a 47 mile all-electric range, which is more than the Prius. If your drive takes you further than that, you can rely on the gas engine for a combined range of 340 miles. The car starts at $33,400 but with rebates and subsidies from the federal and local government, your cost of ownership could go down quite a bit. For example, put a charger in at home and the Department of Water and Power has perks for. In CA, get up to $7000 rebate for HEV purchase.
The Clarity Plug-in Hybrid is loaded with technology, and standard Honda Sensing, Honda’s suite of safety and driver-assistive features. Honda Sensing includes:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System
- Lane Departure Warning
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Road Departure Mitigation System
On top of Honda Sensing, the car is also available with features which integrate your smartphone into your driving life with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also the Honda Link app which allows you to view your real-time charge level and remaining range, locate your car and pre-condition cabin temperature before your get in. The Honda Link® app also includes Station Finder to help you locate the nearest approved EV station, and provides mapping directions to lead you there.
