Many siblings have a fair amount of rivalry, but not the two featured in this week’s Wednesday’s Child! Desiree (2006) and Isaiah (2004) are siblings in foster care who share a strong bond and have always known life together.
Knowing that Desiree and older brother Isaiah enjoy spending leisure time together, they were game for a round of miniature golf at the Arroyo Seco Golf Course in South Pasadena, CA.
Golf is a game that can promote fairness and honesty (and even teach some responsibility) as players keep track of their own scores. It also follows etiquette that promotes sportsmanship through the exercising of mutual respect. During our day of miniature golf with Isaiah and Desiree though, there was more exemplifying of these qualities than teaching. Their caring relationship shone through as this brother and sister duo putt-putted along the course.
With each stroke and around each obstacle, this supportive sibling set encouraged one another as they advanced along the course together. Both of these kids are on target developmentally and doing well in school. Isaiah is currently interested in becoming a barber when he’s older while Desiree dreams of becoming a veterinarian because of her love for animals. Both kids enjoy the outdoors but also enjoy spending time together bonding through playing board games, watching movies or reading together.
As mentioned earlier, so far Isaiah and Desiree have grown up living together and we want to keep it that way by finding them a loving adoptive family. These two have some other significant relationships they’d like to maintain and their hope is to have an adoptive family that will understand and support the existing relationships that are important to them.
