Regina, A Precious Angel Of Hope For A Forever Family

5/14/2014: Wed Child Regina
When you talk to those who know this week's Wednesday's Child best, they describe Regina (2004) as a precious angel of hope. This description is no doubt based in part on the determination this little one has shown during her short life.

Regina was born very premature and is limited in most daily living skills. She has been diagnosed with encephalopathy, seizure disorder, cortical blindness and lower hip dislocation. Despite all this, Regina will use what capabilities she has – sometimes a simple smile – to communicate when she is content.

Regina is dependent upon a g-tube for feeding and a trach tube for oxygen. Still, she enjoys being taken for strolls outside. Regina needs to be in a home where she can be nurtured through holding and human touch and we are looking for a permanent family with both patience and determination that will invest in helping Regina become more responsive to stimulation and an engaging member of the family.

This little one has more than her share of difficult conditions and will need on-going medical attention, so we're looking for a family who will help share her burden and ensure her needs are met. There is training and support available for those special families who are able and willing to embrace children with medical needs like Regina's into their home and lives.
