Stevie (2001) is a quiet teen with a keen interest in the “mechanics” of things. While an assembled toy, car or finished product of other sorts may wow some, Stevie gravitates towards discovering how things work and fit together.
With a knack for building things and taking things apart, we brought Stevie to our friends at Rolling Robots in Glendale, CA to see what he can do.
For his build, Stevie chose a dragster and was focused in his examination of the bits and pieces. While figuring out how to build the dragster could have probably occupied Stevie for hours, the founder of Roller Robots -- Dr. K – lent a hand in showing Stevie how to approach the build. Step-by-step, Stevie was invested in the methodology and mechanics of the build; and once the build was complete his quizzical mind also found uses for the dragster other than simply racing it.
Without knowing Stevie and based on outward appearances, one might assume he doesn’t like to interact and prefers to be left to his own devices. But while Stevie does enjoy some independence and freedom to explore, he also welcomes one-on-one attention in which to engage and show off his talents as well as partaking in small group interactions.
Stevie likes the logical and we’re looking for a patient, loving and understanding family who will commit to helping him unlock the more mysterious treasures yet to unfold for Stevie. Routines plus just the right amount of challenge at the right time will help this kid thrive.
