One of the newest products is a custom serum that allows the customer to create their own customized, personalized skin treatment, choosing ingredients that address their own specific skincare issues:

-Inspired by 165 years of apothecary expertise, Kiehl's introduces a new level of personalized service with tailor-made skincare concentrates to address your unique skin concerns.

-The service includes an in-depth consultation with a Kiehl's Customer Representative who identifies the customer's top two skin concerns and mixes a small amount of the formula for the customer to experience.

-The consultation results and a personalized label is printed for each customer's personalized kit to take home.

-The customer purchases 3 elements: the Skin-Strengthening Concentrate and two recommended complexes

-Customer blends a skin strengthening concentrate with two complexes (based on her skin type and concerns) at home prior to first use.

Customers can also customize and create their own skincare at home, using ingredients they can pick up at the Farmers Market, or might already have in their pantries:

1. Olive Oil/Olives

-The base of Kiehl's Apothecary Blend Skin Strengthening Concentrate is made primarily of Squalane, an ingredient that is in many beauty products

-It's a highly refined moisturizing oil derived from the olive and is extremely compatible with the natural oils of the skin. It's very absorbent and silky.

-DIY- Plain Olive Oil --Regular Olive Oil, used by itself, can be a moisturizing remedy for hair and body

*For extremely dry skin, massage a few drops right into the skin

*It's a natural lubricant, so you can use it in place of shaving cream, on your legs or face.

*Instead of a hair serum, use a drop or two to tame flyaway ends on your hair.

2. Avocado

-Avocado oil is in many of the products for both skin and hair, including Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado and our Olive Fruit Oil Nourishing Shampoo, Conditioner and Deeply Repairative Hair Pak.

-Avocado is a natural source of vitamin A, and is rich in fatty acids and emollients that help restore the natural moisture of the hair, and the lipid barrier of skin.

-DIY- Avocado Honey Face Mask

For dry skin, mash 1 avocado and 1 tablespoon of honey to form a paste.

Apply to skin, avoiding eyes, and leave on for 10-15 min. Rinse with lukewarm water.

3. Cucumber

-Cucumber has long been known for its cooling, refreshing benefits on the skin, and is the base of Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner and the new Cucumber Herbal Conditioning Cleanser.

-DIY- Cucumber Toner

* Always keep a cucumber in the refrigerator.

*Put cold cucumber slices on your eyes to reduce puffiness, but if you take a fresh cucumber slice, and rub it all over your face, you'll have a natural toner.

*Rub fresh cucumber slices over your face and neck, let dry, and then rinse with lukewarm water.

4. Honey

-Honey is often used as an emollient in skincare, and is known for its moisturizing and softening properties. Kiehl's uses it in Soy Milk & Honey Body Polish to exfoliate while moisturizing at the same time.

-DIY- Honey Exfoliant

Mix 2 parts raw honey with 1 part baking soda for a nourishing body scrub.

Use 1x week

5. Coconut Oil

-Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial, packed with antioxidants like vitamin E, and loaded with moisturizing fatty acids, and by itself, can be used like olive oil, on face and body. It's a key ingredient in a number of hair and lip products.

-DIY- Coconut Oil

Apply directly to lips to soothe and moisturize

Use it as a makeup remover, even for the toughest, long-wearing products.
