The POUND Workout: Combining Cardio and Drumming

POUND is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming.

The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, plyometrics and Isometric poses into a 45-minute series.

When Kirsten and Cristina met, they both were living in extremes. Kirsten was a work-a-holic and a play-a-holic without a rule or restriction in her pocket. Cristina was your quintessential obsessive-compulsive fitness freak. She calculated every calorie, workout, and move – and we all know this kind of behavior often stems from a less-than-healthy place.

Through their friendship and personal struggles they realized they were dealing with similar issues in different ways. Cristina taught Kirsten that the tools needed to live a happy and healthy life weren't so overwhelming, and Kirsten taught Cristina that physical exercise or (anything for that matter) should never be excessive, but instead fun and enriching.

They learned how to truly accept each other for who we were and what we brought to the table. And doing so improved the quality of their lives. And from there the POUND philosophy was born: Life can't be fully enjoyed without balance and nurturing, and if you give up on self-improvement, at any time, you give up on yourself. Another strong pull that drew Kirsten and Cristina together was their mutual love of drumming and music. They knew that if they took their new philosophy and married it with that power, they could create something magical. And that is how POUND was born.


What would a drumming workout be without drumsticks? Kirsten and Cristina invented unique, lightly weighted exercise drumsticks that have been specially designed to get you ripped — hence the name: Ripstix!
  • They're Weighted: At ¼ lb, these specially designed drumsticks are twice the weight of a standard 5B Drum stick and slightly shorter in length. After first designing the workout with regular drumsticks, they implemented these design modifications to alter the physics of your arm movement and maximize your workout. These small changes get you burning more calories!
  • They are 15.75 inches in length, which is slightly shorter than standard drumsticks to help class participants reach farther during the choreography. We engineered the circumference of the sticks to be greater than standard drumsticks to allow for a secure grip when you POUND it out!
  • They're Green! Neon Green isn't just for fun. Studies show that color is important for the brain to detect motion and neon green is one of the most detectable and easily processed colors!
